“Spotted” in Botswana -  Mashatu: Land of Leopards

A powerful new wildlife documentary titled Mashatu: Land of Leopards will have its African premiere at the Wildscreen Festival, from 12-13 June 2025, hosted in Maun, Botswana for the very first time! Watch the Trailer Here or below.

Filmed entirely at Mashatu Game Reserve over three years, the story is set in the heart of one of Africa’s last strongholds for free-roaming leopards. The documentary follows the dramatic fate of a leopard family navigating the challenges of a changing climate, revealing never-before-seen leopard behaviours in the diverse, awe-inspiring landscape of Mashatu Game Reserve.

Directed by Julien Naar and produced by ZED Films for France Télévisions, National Geographic and RTS, this documentary is a celebration of wildlife storytelling, combining pioneering camera technology and breathtaking cinematography by Wim Vorster and Magdel Vorster (Mags) of Wild Web Africa.

This milestone marks a meaningful collaboration between Mashatu and Wildscreen Festival - with Mashatu sponsoring and championing Africa’s rich natural heritage, its talented wildlife storytellers, and its thriving tourism and creative industries. BBC Studios Natural History Unit is the Headline Sponsor and Botswana Ignite as in-country partner.
